Vaccine ‘won’t work’ on bulky Britons

Vaccine ‘won’t work’ on bulky Britons (Times article)
If you ‘ve been waiting for a vaccine until you can get on with your life, feeling safe from catching Covid, and you’re overweight, it won’t work for you. This is really important to understand because being a healthy weight really matters for you and your family’s future.

I don’t want your stress levels to rise, for the sake of it. I do want you to use this emotion to do something about it if you are overweight. You DO have the control within yourself to take action so your children and loved ones will have you around for as long as possible. And so you can enjoy the rest of your life, after working so hard.

I got myself into trouble this week, and I apologised. An old contact reached out and I tried to help her. After talking for a long time, I followed up with her, and sent her the statistic which says that obese people live 20 years of their life in poor health and on average 8 years less than the average. I did this because I KNOW I survived a near death experience of having a major catastrophic haemorrhage in hospital after emergency surgery because I was slim and fit. Those are the words that repeat in my brain. My husband was told to say his goodbyes back in Intensive Care in the most terrifying period in our lives. Those charged emotions still remind me and help me be the best advocate of being a healthy weight. But not everyone understands my point of view. And that’s ok.

I have been criticised before. I get things wrong quite a lot. I used to be really bad at taking other people’s criticism. I took it so personally and the words kept on repeating over and over in my brain. I apologised because I am not that person, and I don’t know what it is like being them. I am sorry that I hurt their feelings. I try every day to be more empathetic and compassionate in my life. But you know what? I am not going to shut up because if I can help even one person lose weight and live another year because my message has resonated with them, it’s worth it.

Is it harmful to hurt feelings if it’s for a good intention? Or should we all stay quiet for fear of not upsetting anyone? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Your thoughts help me help others so email me at olivia@eatslim.co.uk

Next I’d like to offer a personal recommendation to you.
This is a funny picture of the skin or ‘dermis’. Collagen offers a more youthful appearance both on our face and neck, and inside our bodies. Collagen is the ‘miracle’ glue – and protein that provides structure to much of our bodies, including bones, skin, tendons, and ligaments. As we age, like everything else that doesn’t work as well, our bodies produce less and less of it, and sadly the quality of collagen isn’t so great!

There isn’t much evidence that eating bone broth and gelatine help. However, hydrolysed collagen has already been broken down so our bodies can actually use it. A study showing the benefits of taking collagen for skin elasticity in women showed improvements in skin appearance and elasticity in a 2019 study. I use it and I have had excellent feedback from several clients, although this is no scientific study! Collagen is also used in topical treatments to improve the appearance of skin by minimising lines and wrinkles. If you’d like to read about it more depth, email me and I will send you the links. If you would like to buy the product I personally use at no extra expense (as an affiliate partner) here’s an easy link. I add it to my chocolate smoothies in the morning, which are like having a chocolate milkshake for breakfast, and my appetite is satiated, all whilst knowing it’s helping my skin stay youthful as I approach an important birthday ; www.eatslim.co.uk/collagen
