Don’t follow the low-fat diet unless you are prepared to do this…

Low fat or low carb?

The story that caught my eye this week was a bit of a negative ‘scare-story’. Check it out here in the Low fat or low carb article

So, which is better for fat loss: Plant-based or keto diet?
The study was done on 20 people for 2 weeks in a controlled environment. The plant-based group had a calorie deficit of 700 calories and the low-carb 300 calories.

BUT – there was a minimal difference in fat loss between the two diets! Why am I not surprised?

The author of this article has implied that plant-based means low fat.

You may have realised that so many so-called experts get very angry if you don’t follow their way. Some nutritionists (therapists) promote you eat lots and lots of beans because they are full of fibre. Did you know there are other foods that contain even more fibre but don’t cause the wind?! And they don’t contain anti-nutrients. If you don’t follow their way, you’re in trouble. I find this is true for many nutritionists – especially the ones with lots of qualifications. Have you ever noticed that those with the most qualifications are the most insecure?

There are so many different combinations of eating plans or diets. – But it HAS to suit the individual. Otherwise, it won’t work for you. You are unique. I believe you have to enjoy your food, not feel deprived. Food tastes delicious and it is one of life’s pleasures. I don’t want to live my life with no taste buds. In fact, I can’t believe I actually wished for this back in the days when I was overweight.

Maybe the best nutritional programme for you will be both plant-based and lower carb. Maybe you love beans and legumes. (Sorry I don’t! Apart from hummus occasionally and homemade in my Vitamix is so much better than shop-bought – when I have the time).

It’s not lack of information – it’s lack of IMPLEMENTATION that keeps so many people stuck, frustrated, and awake at night worrying.

What do you think? Maybe you think it’s the lack of the correct information – but specific to you. In which case you’re right.
Celebrity pressure

I don’t know anything about TOWIE, other than I know it’s a reality programme. I have heard of celebrity promoter James Argent who is having bariatric surgery because his doctors told him he will die without weight loss surgery.

First, he was addicted to drugs and alcohol, now it is food.
You can stop drinking and taking drugs forever but you can’t stop eating.

I was so sorry when I heard the interview on TV. He seems like a nice fella. I really hope he can find the solution and get back to a happy place where he doesn’t need to rely on anything to feel better.

The problem is surgery is not the answer. Diets which do not address the root causes of why weight is gained in the first place do not work long-term. There is a reason why people overeat. In fact, multiple reasons.

Coaching is different from counselling

and weight loss coaching will fix the underlying reasons why standard diets often fail, especially long-term.

If you’re pondering to see if funds allow, ask yourself is it worth all the frustration of feeling stuck or worrying about your future?

I want to learn new things. I want to improve my life. But to do this I invest in myself with a coach, and with programmes. I continue to learn and progress. Nothing in life that is worthwhile takes zero effort, and if it does, there’s probably no real achievement.

But you do have the control. You can find the funds. You can do what needs to be done and become unstuck. Find your solution. You know what you need.
